AGILITY ON THE RIVER

OUTDOOR CLASSES:   (Beginning May 2012!)

***NEW*** Classes will be held Tuesday-Thursday evenings with added daytime classes Wednesdays and Thursdays!

***BEGINNER AGILITY:  (Tuesday evenings) - Not available at this time - see Indoor classes 

This class introduces the dog to the most common agility obstacles, contacts, jumps, tunnels and weaves all at low and easy levels.  The purpose of this class is to teach the dog to work comfortable on the equipment correctly, confidently and safely!  Conducted ON LEASH for optimum safety!

SKILL BUILDING LEVEL 1 & 2: (TBA)

(For dogs that have completed Beginner Agility or an equivilent).  Both these classes focus on individual obstacle performance, sequences and handling.  Level 1 consists of turns, direction and body language.  Level 2 focuses on obstacle discrimination, sending and more!  These classes are conducted OFF LEASH.

ADVANCED HANDLING:  (TBA)

(For dogs and handlers ready to compete and for those who need extra work on handling).  This is a technical handling class designed specifically for the handler.  It focuses on body language, positioning and movement to avoid mistakes.  Front and rear crossing turns, tandem turns, reverse flow pivots, false turns, flips and more!

COMPETITIVE AGILITY STARTERS/ADVANCED:  (TBA)

(For dogs that have completed Skill Building Level 2 or an equivilent).  This class teaches the handler all the different games that are played, all the rules, regulations, faults, everything you need to know before entering an agility trial or fun match.  This class also focuses on handling!!!  You will learn how to get the most points out of your dog in snookers and gamblers, how to read and walk a course and how to get distance from your dog.   Each week will focus on a different game and handling technique ending on week 6 with a mini fun match!

COMPETITIVE AGILITY ADVANCED/MASTERS :  (TBA)

PRIVATE LESSONS - are available upon request, depending on field and instructor availability.

All classes are 6 weeks in length for 1 hour each.

 NOTE: We are aware of the growing bones and joints of young pups, which is why pups under the age of 14-18 months (depending on the breed size) will have restrictions placed on equipment height.  If you have any questions or concerns about your puppy/dog's age or health regarding agility training, please contact your Veterinarian!

OUTDOOR CLASSES:  House address - 1043 River Road

Directions:  Off 401 to Napanee, take the Palace Road exit, turn south, drive on Palace road crossing hwy 2 at the rock cut, over the train tracks and to a set of lights.  Continue straight, you are now on River Road!  Drive 4 minutes, and just as you go under the hydro towers start looking on the right for an Aframe sign...it will be next to my neighbours driveway at 1033 River road.  Follow the yellow lab sign and turn onto large grass area.  Drive up until you see another yellow lab sign.  You can park anywhere up under the trees, but don't block the entrance to the field!

If you are taking Hwy 2, just turn left onto Palace road at the rock cut and continue the same!

INDOOR  CLASSES:   (Winter 2012)

Indoor classes are being held specific Saturdays at Prelude Kennels 255 Cunningham Road, Gananoque Ontario.
